The piggies love the hay!
Sheila A K.
I have 10 Guinea pigs. This is Spike, an older male. He got his Orchard grass hay box on 01/13/2023, and still has a third of the box on 02/10/2023. His next cage neighbor, Polar, got the same box at the same time. He is near the bottom of the box. There is some very fine hay at the bottom, not dusty, but too fine to eat. Two girls, Ma and Peggy, went through the box in in about 2 weeks time. They actually torn into the box and Peggy dived in. Pigs love doing that.
Overall, I like the boxes. No flumes of dust in my face. I don’t have to transfer from container to the cage. The pigs like the hay. I find it cost effective. I work the hay down from top to bottom, twice daily, to keep pigs from crawling into the box. I ordered more of the boxes and all but two of my pigs have a hay box in their cages. The other two are still working through their hay bars.

So far, this is a big improvement over hay racks. I sit the box on a brick to keep it off the floor and only open 2 of the feeding holes for one pig. I open all 3 on the bottom for two pigs. I only have boxes in three of my 7 cages so far. I have 10 Guinea pigs.
I use the handle of a large spoon and my fingers to pull hay down from above, as the pigs eat. It is a bit of work the first few days. But, I know my pigs. If I leave a gap where they put their head, they will also insert their body and pee in the box. On my two cages with a top, I use a bungee cord near the top to hold the box in place, still sitting on a brick. And, a pad in front of the brick to catch loose hay as they chew.
I haven’t noticed any dust and that is my number one reason to switch hay brands. I was concerned that there are no long strands, but so far poops look healthy. The orchard hay is so green and so soft. No sharp pieces and no brown pieces. And, there is so much less waste. I sometimes throw away 1/4-1/3 of a box of hay, because of the dust.
I have an order in for hay bars to try out in my other four cages.

Our guineas love, their crunchy condos! They also love the orchard hay bar.
We frequently find them head first immersed in their hay bar. The crunchy condos give them the opportunity to climb up and grab their treats. Then they get to run through and hide just what they love!
Sara H.
Our pigs both love to eat the Guinea Dad Orchard Hay as well as hide in and chew on the box. It's an all around great product that keeps up from having to fill up the hay feeder constantly since there is such a large amount in each feeder. Thank you, Guinea Dad, for making the feeding process fun and easy!
Mary A.
Cuts down on wasted hay and the piggies love it.
Laurie R.
These smaller hay boxes are good, but there is a lot of really short hay pieces in these boxes verses the larger boxes. I end up throwing away more hay from these boxes. The quality of the hay itself is excellent, but on my next order I’m going back to the larger hay boxes.
Christina L.
So much cleaner using these and so much better for my hay allergy since less dust and I never have to touch it. You all rock!
Erin H.
The Guinea Dad hay boxes are wonderful. The piggies have a constant source of fresh, clean hay. The boxes are stuffed full and last longer than the larger and more expensive boxes I was buying online. My allergies have decreased, since I no longer transfer hay by the handful to the cage. The guinea pigs love the hay and one likes to climb inside the box to use it as a hidey for napping as soon as he's eaten enough hay to open up some space.

I can't wait til orchard grass is available again. My piggies love orchard grass much better than timothy hay even if at the end before stopping being sold. At the end there was a lot of powder and I had to make sure I got rid of it before my piggies inhaled it but they still loved it anyway.
Lynn L.
So they say you don't know what you have until its gone. Well, this could not be truer when it comes to this hay. After feeling like we were buying hay too often, we decided about a year ago to purchase this hay. I must also note that my daughter is allergic to Timothy hay. From the start, our piggies loved the hay. It was comforting to know that their health and my daughter's were better because of this hay. Even with two very hungry guinea pigs each box lasts a long time. No more weekly trips to PetSmart! We saved money in the long run too. Fast forward to now..... we noticed the Orchard hay was sold out for two weeks straight. I contacted the company and received a quick, friendly reply. They mentioned that because they are very selective about the quality of the hay and since this recent batch was not up to their standards, they were waiting until the next harvest to package new hay. Wow! This impressed us even though were bummed to have to wait. As we wait my daughter is sneezing more even after using another brand of orchard hay. This just proves the quality of this hay! I am counting down the days until we can order more. This company is amazing! Don't hesitate to buy this hay. It is worth it!
Chynna S.
Draco LOVES this hay!
Elena F.
Rue and Skunkie love, love the hey box. Skunkie doesn’t sneeze anymore with the Orchard hey. The convenience of just popping a new box every couple weeks is a game changer. Oh, and I keep the empty box in the cage for a few days …. Rue finds it a fun place to relax.
Jamyung K.
Although the hay looks quite short, I found it to be much easier to clean up and my guinea pigs love it. They are always in front of it chomping away happily. Thank you GuineaDad!
Zuri Z.
My trio of piggies love it! and I love it. It lasted a lot longer than I expected because is a lot less wasted hay plus the boxes are jammed packed! The girls have fun after the box is empty and use it as a hideout. I use orchard due to allergies and is a great product. Will definitely come back for more. I am sure my piggies won't object and gave it tiny piggy thumbs up.
Patty G.
The hay is really good quality, but it is cut way too short. It isn’t crumbs exactly, but not much longer.
Brittany R.
My piggies and hamsters love the pea flakes and the orchard grass hay! I can tell they love it more than any other brands
Samantha F.
My 2 female piggies (Morton and JoAnne) love their GuineaDad Orchard Hay! The box doesn't quite fit with my hutch setup, so I refill 2 smaller hay feeders and some toilet paper rolls daily for my piggies to munch on. Their happy wheeks are always the loudest when they hear the crunch of me grabbing a handful of fresh hay for them! :-)
Charlie M.
Our favorite snack!! :)
Laura S.
my boys adore this hay . one likes to have the box on its side so he can eat the box and hay. the other also knocks it flat and sits on too of it They love chewing the cardboard and of course their favorite hay
David S.
Service and products have always been first rate.
Crystal S.
My boys were already hooked on the Timothy hay, but wanted to try them with Orchard hay to make it easier on my allergies. Apollo and Verbolten took a little getting used to the Orchard hay, but they love it and so do my allergies!
AVIVA G.
This is such a great idea and I definitely like not refilling hay all the time. This is the only hay Dulcinea can eat right now without urinary pain (possibly lower in seed heads/calcium than previous orchard grass we were using). As you can see, she's started napping in front of the hay box (IT'S ALL MINE)! It took a couple of boxes for the piggies to really get the hang of it but now they head right over and start stuffing their faces. The execution needs some work. I think it is less dusty, but a lot of the box is full of small bits that get tracked everywhere. For lil' D we can not be without this!
Charlie M.
Marvin loves to eat the hay and then make it into a bed! :)
Shayla R.
My girls absolutely love it. Peppa couldn't fit her whole body in because Daisy is already in there♀️ lol
Hyun O.
Its great my guinea pigs eat it more often than timothy hay and its so little cleanup compared to a wooden box. But my box is still lasting more than 2 weeks and I have 2 guinea pigs and I don't think thats a bad thing but a good thing. I love this product and when i run out ill definitely be buying more when I run out
Andrea S.
This is the best hay! Once we tried it out, we subscribed immediately. It smells better than the last brand we tried, and it's so much cleaner and easier to use.
Karen S.
My 2 girls really enjoy eating your hay. They love and I love it since I am not filling a hay rack every day since it is all contained.
Brenda S.
Orchard Hay is 100% better than Oxbow Timothy Hay - finer texture, pleasant aroma, no dust. Miss Pearl finds it tastier too - fun to watch her pulling the grass from the box openings. Packaging allows less waste & a cleaner habitat. Thank you for putting so much thought into making life better for all the tiny loves in our lives.
Merry Christmas!
Jennifer O.
These were way bigger than I thought they’d be, and our Guinea pigs love them!!
Debbie F.
Well, I gotta say, the GuineaDad people give a GREAT DEAL on hay! Wow! The boxes are filled to just about bursting and bigger than I imagined they would be (actually too big for our hutch cage)—it will take our young piggies months to peg off all three boxes. LOL. >.< If you have a suitable cage, though, I highly recommend! BTW, make sure you order well in advance. It took 6 days to get to the east coast! Ouch!
Tiffanie L.
I have always gotten the regular Timothy Hay for my guineas, but they love this one too!
Em B.
I put this hay in my piggies' cages and it immediately made my room smell amazing. The pigs love it. You can literally see the difference in the photo - their old hay is bedding for the litter area now for comparison. It's so much more brown, dusty, and full of sticks than the beautiful orchard hay!
Karen S.
This is the fourth time I have bought these 3 boxes of hay. My 2 guinea pigs love to eat this hay and when it gets to the end climb in the hay box to eat what is left. This is the only hay I have bought and won't go back to the store bought hay.
Alex C.
The lil man loves the box! And I love it as well, I don't need to dig my hand through the hay bag and get stabbed by the pesky things. There's also been less hay mess so I recommend this heavily!
Anakaren L.
I had trouble with buying hay in bulk because it was always so messy. But I decided to give these a try and my pigs love them so much!
Keeps the cage and out of the cage more clean than before, I am for sure going to keep on buying more!
Teri S.
Dean & Frank love the great quality hey, I love how easy it is! I don’t have to worry about having to refill the hey constantly . Dean thinks it’s a very cozy loft too!
Kathy J.
I have tried all of the various hays that are available from both online shops and in pet stores and Guinea Dad is the one consistent hay that all of my pigs prefer. In all honestly I do take it out of the boxes and empty the hay into a small open bin for storage and then just give them a fresh pile in the corner of their cage several times a day. They love to dive into it and just devour it.
I love the fact that it is always green and soft and just smells like freshly cut hay. I never worry about them getting any eye pokes with Guinea Dad hay.
My only request would be to also have it available for purchase in large bags for those of us who do not use the boxes as hay racks.
Kelly G.
I loved the concept but my girls on the other hand didn’t. So therefore I would have to take the hay out of the box in order for them to eat ♀️
Charlie M.
These 2 always love sharing their hay! :)
Elizabeth A.
All of our skinny pigs loved it. Our babies figured out they could fit into the food house, as pictured. Helps a ton since I have hay allergies and this helps with the allergens every day. Only downside is they eat the bottom half but have yet to figure out how to get to the top (in a normal way) but I’m sure in time they will figure it out!
Sarah R.
Our guinea loves this hay! Gives him great exercise too
Gianna G.
My boys like the orchard hay best. The box keeps everything so much neater than anything else I've tried. It saves on space too I love that it clips on! Very clever!
Charlie M.
The baby's love their hay! I always love to watch them eating it together :)
Taryn N.
I absolutely love these hay boxes, what a genius product! I luckily found Guinea Dad before I adopted my two guineas so I was set up with liners and hay boxes from the start. I cannot imagine the mess they would make without my Guinea Dad stuff. My piggies are particularly fond of the orchard hay, which is much nicer on my allergies, but a little more messy than the timothy hay. It's finer and breaks up into smaller pieces more easily, but still very easy to clean up daily. If you have guinea pigs these are a MUST!
Linda G.
My Piggies love this hay! It is the best quality available on the market.
It is so much easier to keep the cage clean and the piggies live to dig
in the boxes. Life is so much better now (for them and me)!
Charlie M.
Eugene loves getting a fresh box of GuineaDad Orchard Hay!!
Teri S.
I love the convenience of the hay boxes. My pigs Dean & Frank love them too! Frank likes to take a nap inside the box occasionally
Karen S.
Love these hay boxes and so do my piggies. As you can see by the picture how much they enjoy the boxes. Easy to use and I don't have to keep filling a hay rack up all the time.
Barbara S.
Easy and more economical than store bought. Much better quality as well.
Veena Aragam A.
My pigs love the hay, and when it gets low they dive into the box! Thank you for such a great product.
Charlie M.
My Piggy's LOVE this hay!! And they love the boxes too :)
Jennifer K.
Boo and George wheek with delight over the orchard hay! Clearly, Boo needed to use the cottage to get a boost. Poor George had to wait his turn.
Hannah F.
PJ (Pirate Jack) has loved your hay since he first tried it. Now he is excited and squeaks his approval every time he sees us opening a brand new box! However, you can tell he finds use of the older ones too.
Jordan S.
My piggies love the orchard hay box! And because I am allergic to Timothy Hay this product helps out a lot so I won't break out in hives while cleaning up
Kathryn D.
I was a little skeptical at first but holy cow does my little piggie love chewing the cardboard on this thing! It keeps her cage much neater and doesn't waste as much hay. Totally worth it
Macey
I did not expect such a huge box of hay! The packaging, quality, and convenience are what make this product amazing. My girls love stuffing their faces with orchard hay. This stuff will last a while for them!
Yassia P.
First time trying orchard hay especially since i have a piggie who is a picky eater and doesnt care much for Timothy hay :( but as soon as i put this box out, he was the first one to try and actually started to eat the hay! Im so excited and makes me so happy that both my piggies are eating the hay and ill definitely be buying some more! Thank you GuineaDad :)
Veena
My two piggies absolutely love the orchard hay! They are new, so still shy to come out, but they come out for the hay every time! And I’m allergic to Timothy hay, so I’m happy to be able to buy an alternative they love ! Thanks for such a great product.
Karen S.
My two girls really love this hay. Easy to install and for them to eat from the box. I have ordered these boxes many times and I haven't had any problems with it and if I don't push it down in time I have found my piggies in the box eating.
Cindy N.
As soon as I opened a new box for my piggies to try, they dug in right away! This is my first time buying orchard hay and it won’t be the last. It’s definitely piggy approved!
Kimberly H.
Our *5* guinea pigs all LOVE the Orchard hay! They love the Timothy hay as well, but they sure go crazy when we open up the Orchard. Our youngest, Holly uses the open space for her hideout too!
FRANCESCA S.
I love this packaging! Great for messier eaters, and my boys love to play with the box also.
Charlie M.
Everyone absolutely loves this hay! As you can see they crowd around it after I put a new one in! If you can spot little Norman, he always tries to squeeze his way in for some goodies!
amelia f.
My piggies eats it slow. I am not sure if they like it or not but it is not wasted.
Tammy H.
We keep both the Orchard and Timothy Hay available for our boys! They like variety. Since the boxes are compact, it's easy to replace and makes for easy cage clean up.
Aubrey K.
First time guinea pig parents here! We purchased the 3 pack of the orchard hay and our 2 piggies seem to love it! It has a sweet hay smell but isn’t over bearing and I really liked the idea of it already being in the box and hanging it on the cage! Will definitely continue to purchase as long as it’s in stock!
Aian V.
Love the packaging!
Stacey S.
Both pics have oxbow hay on left, GuineaDad on right. And it's GuineaDad for the win!
Vivian B.
The girls wheeked so much when I put this in their cage! It smelled so fresh when I opened the packaging, and cleaning is so much easier!
Karen S.
My 2 guinea pigs love this orchard hay. They are always having their heads in the box. I think that they like this better than the timothy hay. I am enjoying this hay better since my nose isn't running as much.
Charlie M.
My piggy's LOVE your hay!! And I love it even more because I no longer have to fuss with filling a hay feeder, only to have them spill it out everywhere! Not to mention all of the dust used to aggravate my allergies, and now that's all gone! These boxes are a brilliant idea :)
