So, as you may know, avocados are all the rage right now. We, humans, love our guacamoles, and avocado spreads. However, can our furry friends enjoy the delicious taste of avocados, too? Well, the answer is mainly no. The inside of the avocado is generally "safe" for your little piggie. Avocados have fiber, and they are great sources of Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and Vitamin A but are high in fat content which could lead to digestion and intestinal problems. However, you need to be careful with the other parts of the avocado, as the pit and the outside layer are both poisonous for your guinea pig. Even with the inside of the avocado, too much can be detrimental to your guinea pig’s health due to its high fat content, so if anything it is better to avoid giving to guinea pigs.
Conclusion
All in all, Avocado should be avoided to be given to guinea pigs. Not only are some parts of the avocado poisonous due to its persin content, but the parts that are "safe" to give, are high in fat content, and is not an ideal type of food to give to guinea pigs.
